Participants

The Founding Cohort.

Building the program around our first participants.

The Silver King Project is in its founding period — incorporating, building infrastructure, and preparing to run our first trips. We're starting small and deliberately, laying the foundation the program needs.

The program will scale as our capacity does.

Veterans and first responders who can hold their own on the bow.

Saltwater fly fishing is physically demanding and mentally focused work — long days in the sun, technical casting, conditions that change by the hour. We're looking for participants who can engage with the program at full intensity, who'll absorb what the guides have to teach, and who'll contribute to the group around them.

Freshwater fly fishing can be meditative. Saltwater on a skiff isn't. The fish move, the wind builds, the tides shift, and the day runs on the guide's read of conditions rather than the clock. The bow is a working position. SKP rewards focus, attention to detail, and teamwork — and demands all three.

How participants are chosen.

The Silver King Project does not run an open application.

Participants reach us through organizations that serve veterans and first responders, and through our own outreach to departments and agencies. Those partners put the program in front of people they believe are a fit. Our board reviews every candidate and selects each cohort.

Slots are limited and interest will exceed them for a long time. We would rather work through people who know their own than run a queue we cannot answer properly.
